I completed my PhD in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham in 2026, supervised by Dr. Miqing Li and Professor Per Kristian Lehre. My research lies at the intersection of AI and optimisation, with a focus on understanding why algorithms work — through theoretical analysis and empirical investigation — and on developing principled methods that work reliably across problem structures.
My current research interests include
- AI and optimisation: optimisation algorithms (local search, evolutionary algorithms) and their theoretical foundations
- Multi-objective combinatorial optimisation
- Fitness landscape analysis and visualisation
- Multi-agent systems
- Artificial Life

I serve as the Head of the Academic Department in the Doctorate Association, where I organise academic events and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. I also serve as a teaching assistant (modules) at the University of Birmingham. Please feel free to get in touch regarding potential collaboration. I also served in the Entertainment Department and the IT Department of the University of Birmingham Chinese Society (now UoB CSSA) back from 2017 to 2019.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, Go, reading, and studying the Four Pillars of Destiny.

亮点 Highlights
[AAAI2026] shows that random neighbourhood exploration is faster than systematic scan in Pareto-based local search — a counterintuitive result with practical implications for multi-objective algorithm design.
[FOGA2025] analyses the features of existing pseudo-Boolean benchmarks and proposes new ones that exhibit more realistic features.
[PPSN2024] develops a tool to visualise the landscape of multi-objective optimisation problems with a low-dimensional decision space. DEMO
[GECCO2023] showed that non-elitist MOEAs can compete with well-known elitist MOEAs (NSGA-II, SMS-EMOA and NSGA-III) on several combinatorial problems, especially for those with rugged fitness landscapes.
